POLICY TITLE: FACILITIES MAINTENANCE AND SECURITY

1.0 PURPOSE
This policy is established to insure facilities are maintained to instill a sense of pride to the members and the community.
2.0 FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
The Department shall maintain and operate the facilities in a safe, healthful, and visually pleasing condition, and preserve the Department’s investment. Members shall take part in the maintenance of the facilities and shall protect them from misuse; conserving gas, water, electricity, fuel, oil, phone use, and other miscellaneous Department controlled resources.
3.0 FACILITIES INSPECTIONS
Facilities shall be inspected on a routine basis to insure they are maintained in a state of readiness and good repair.
4.0 FACILITIES MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
The Facilities Captain shall provide for a program that continuously insures the facilities are repaired and/or reconditioned. A schedule of all routine and annual maintenance shall be maintained by the Facilities Captain.
5.0 BUDGET RECOMMENDATIONS
The Facilities Captain shall submit an annual budget request to the Budget Officer to insure the facilities meet the needs of the Department and the community.
6.0 FACILITIES ACCESS
Access to buildings shall be limited to members of the Department or other authorized visitors. A system of security devices shall be installed to control access to the buildings.
7.0 VANDALISM AND / OR THEFT
Any vandalism of facilities or theft of equipment shall be reported immediately to the Fire Chief or his designee. The Fire Chief or his designee shall insure the proper law enforcement agency is notified.
8.0 USE OF FACILITIES
Community groups may be authorized the use of Department facilities if it does not interfere with the operations of the Department.
